Coaching: Still Don't Have a Coach?

The Embrace Talent Development Team offers various enrichment programs designed to guide employees as they strive for personal and professional excellence. Amongst those programs is the Embrace Coaching Program led by Talent Development's Sales Coach, John Bushee.

Many of us strive to have a more balanced approach to how we serve and interact with others. The Embrace Coaching Program is designed to provide that balance by coaching the whole person, and supporting our existing coaches using the latest tools of the coaching trade.

To aid you in your success, we are committed to having sixty-one managers certified by the International Coach Federation as professional coaches in November 2017.

This July, John shares a glimpse into what employees stand to gain when they take advantage of the Coaching Program at Embrace Home Loans.

by John Bushee

According to data provided by the International Coach Federation 80% of people working with a coach feel they have improved self-confidence, and 73% feel they have improved relationships. These are two skills that add to success with peers, customers, friends and family.

If you don't have a coach, that means you're not checking in with a person who shares your visions of success and provides you with the means to find and consider fresh perspectives that offer greater choices, thus, enabling better decision-making. You also don't have anyone other than your manager for regular check-ins regarding your professional goals and objectives.

The idea of having someone to help with those challenges that make you feel "stuck" sounds like a good idea; but then what do you really have to do to be successful with a coach? How hard will it be, and how committed are you going to be to taking the steps necessary to being that person you know you can be?

... So if you still don't have a coach, here are a few things to consider if you want to continue slowly going it alone without receiving feedback vital to measuring your success:

  • Understand who you admire and why.

The people we admire provide us with a sense of the values we respect and emulate along with he habits we see as being positive and replicable. Knowing values provides us with the guidelines we need to develop the relationships that lead to success. Without a coach to help you explore what's personally important to you and why, you may end up looking up to your favorite super hero for trivial reasons, at best.

  • Look for ways to stretch yourself out of your comfort zone

Look for those blind spots that hold you back from being the person you know you can be if you reach your potential. You know, that dream we all have of being at our best and staying at a high level of personal and professional performance. Unfortunately, there are often blind spots holding us back. Those are defined as those things we think we do well and don't, and those we don't think we do well but do.

We all have limiting beliefs that collide with our dreams. They're easy to identify. They begin with, "I could do that, but………" Ever heard that in one of your conversations?

The International Coach Federation finds that professional coaching maximizes potential and unlocks latent sources of productivity with 70% seeing improved work performance. Coaching helps us overcome that which holds us back.

  • Add to your list of self-help books

If you're not working with a coach, reading a book that provides general advice based on a wide range of assumptions may really hold the key to your success.

On the other hand……

The reality of coaching is that it is a process that helps us dig deeper and find solutions to the issues we see as holding us back.

We're our own best self-help resource. We know what we feel and what we've experienced. By considering new perspectives, we have the capacity and ability to make the changes needed to succeed.

With half the year already in the rearview mirror, now's the time to buckle down and refocus on the goals and objectives you set out to achieve back in January. The three suggestions I've presented are a great way to jumpstart your success if you have no choice but to go it alone; however, when you join the Embrace team, you don't have to go that route. Embrace professionals are provided with various tools and programs designed to support their growth and development, including the Embrace Coaching Program. When you come onboard, we have your back from the very start. Just another perk of choosing employment at Embrace Home Loans!
