Coaching: Continuous Professional & Personal Improvement

The Embrace Talent Development Team offers various enrichment programs designed to guide employees as they strive for personal and professional excellence.

Amongst those programs is the Embrace Coaching Program led by Talent Development's Sales Coach, John Bushee.

Many of us strive to have a more balanced approach to how we serve and interact with others. The Embrace Coach Program is designed to provide that balance by coaching the whole person, and supporting our existing coaches using the latest tools of the coaching trade.

To aid you in your success, we are committed to having sixty-one managers certified by the International Coach Federation as professional coaches in November 2017.

This May, John shares a glimpse into what employees stand to gain when they take advantage of the Coaching Program at Embrace Home Loans.

Coaches make the best accomplices as you work towards continuous professional and personal improvement.

Because continuous improvement is frequently discussed, but rarely defined, I offer a definition used by Coach Jim Clear, "Continuous improvement is a dedication to making small changes and improvements every day, with the expectation that those small improvements will add up to something significant."

Those who've been a part of the Embrace Coaching Program have enjoyed the opportunity to develop a working vision of what success looks like, and then discover and use various perspectives to make that vision come to life. Over time, those perspectives help shift our ways of thinking and acting as we pursue career and personal growth.

Seeing a situation from more and varied points of view results in better decision-making. Better decisions produce better results. Greater, more consistent exposure to better results creates a positive energy for transformational change in terms of personal and professional performance.

Rather than point out all the benefits that can arise from improved decision-making, I'd like to share some of the bad habits that go away when additional perspectives are explored:

  • More choice and better decisions allow us to take action. We stop the paralysis of waiting for something to happen that will bring us success. How many times have you committed to doing something different with the intention of better performance, only to go back to old habits hoping something will change? Better decisions are the result of expanded thinking.

  • Better decisions provide us with more defined action plans that are time and results-based. When we have a stronger grasp of our values and a deeper understanding of our purpose, we stop focusing on putting more time into what we do and focus on doing the right things for the right reasons. The result is a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day. That's the result of not prioritizing what we do, but instead doing what we prioritize.

  • Drop excuses that explain lack of success. Old habits create predictable and static results. When we've done a job for many years lack of success can often be blamed on those things "we couldn't control." Exploring perspectives allows us to adapt to change and overcome new challenges. How often have you known someone who "used to be good?" They didn't adapt, and consequently, were left behind by changes in the marketplace.

Embrace professionals are enabled for continuous improvement through their participation in the Embrace Coaching Program. If they are stuck in a rut, the Coaching Program can be the key to helping them dig their way out and get where they want to be. It is one of many programs that the Embrace Talent Development Team offers employees as they overcome challenges and pursue personal and professional excellence. When employees choose to build their careers at Embrace, they are making a wise investment in themselves and their futures.
